Description
This beautiful heart shaped bag charm is made from Flicka’s fibre from her 2021 shearing. The crochet part measures approximately 12cm long by 5.5cm wide and the clasp is approximately 3cm long.
All the alpaca fibre which is going to be spun into yarn is washed in an antibacterial detergent and then a wool wash.
After spinning the clean fibre into yarn on my Louet S51 spinning wheel, the yarn is then soaked in water to set the twist in the yarn. I then hand crochet the spun yarn into two heart shapes and then crochet around them to join them together. A crochet chain stitch forms the loop which attaches to the clip clasp. Perfect for attaching to a bag or key ring.

Alpacas love to roll in dust and Paula at Peaky Pacas provides a specialist earth for her alpacas. Whilst grazing the fibre also picks up hay, grass, seeds, moss and other vegetable matter (VM). I try my best to remove all the bits, however, the occasional seed or bit of grass may get through.
