Description
This heart hat badge is made from Larry’s fibre from his 2022 shearing. and measures approximately 5.5cm by 5cm.
After shearing all the alpaca fibre spun into yarn is washed in an antibacterial detergent and then a specific wool wash.
After spinning the clean fibre into yarn on my Louet S51 spinning wheel, the yarn is then soaked in water to set the twist in the yarn. I then hand crochet the spun yarn into a heart shape. The silver coloured brooch mechanism is hand sewn on the back to enable you to use it as a hat badge or brooch.
Handmade 100% alpaca fibre.
Alpacas love to roll in dust and Paula provides a specialist earth for her alpacas. Whilst grazing the fibre also picks up hay, grass, seeds, moss and other vegetable matter (VM). I try my best to remove all the bits, however, the occasional seed or bit of grass may get through.
