This heart hat badge is made from Ronnie’s fibre from his 2022 shearing.
All the alpaca fibre to be spun into yarn is washed in an antibacterial detergent and then a specific wool wash.
After spinning the clean fibre into yarn on my Louet S51 spinning wheel, the yarn is then soaked in water to set the twist in the yarn. I then hand crochet the spun yarn into a heart shape. The silver coloured brooch mechanism is hand sewn on the back to enable you to use it as a hat badge or brooch.
Handmade 100% alpaca fibre.
Alpacas love to roll in dust and Paula at Peaky Pacas provides a specialist earth for her alpacas. Whilst grazing the fibre also picks up hay, grass, seeds, moss and other vegetable matter (VM). I try my best to remove all the bits, however, the occasional seed or bit of grass may get through.
